The incident of the self driving car and the bad scenario is why they want to put RFID chips in everything. In the cars cones lines some how etc some sort of material that is readable by these systems maybe not literal chips but all of one item would have a certain material that could be read to react to the scenario properly. Heck more requirements which would be incredibly simple from road workers with an app that would with self driving cars to draw the path and instantly update to the changes. to react to the situation properly.

I agree with his statement. I worked in multiple manufacturing environments. You can run one part great but then make the machine move or even a body and all sorts of errors come up once there is more motion. Lack of oil on metal at the right moment before punching from a press can cause all sorts of issues just as much as to much oil. so it a perfect science of timing and and producing the actual end element. I have also done brake production and there are so many part that go into it that error at some point is inevitable in some part. Not that they will not work but how they wear over time will changer per error and different elements.

Sandy, you probably should have asked him if overworking/exploiting employees and awful workplace safety had anything to do with the shitty quality control. Also, why are heated seats included in the car but you have to pay another 1500 dollars to activate them? Seem's kinda bullshit. P.S I heard If you mention the word "Unionize" in Elon's presence he will start hissing and his eyes will turn black.

With billions of subsidy (USA is communism is disguise, with 1 difference; with investor climate and Wall Street, they have made their system much easier to steal from, Not thousands of dollars, then you get in trouble, but if you do it with false promises, props instead of actually working solar rooftiles, etc and use shares, the value of which is what investors are willing to pay for them, then you can accumulate biliions. Elon has very much understood that, so his financial intelligence is very 👍.

I liked the comment about "super difficult thing". If I go to a Tesla store and tell them how super difficult for me make enough money to pay for a Tesla and ask for a say 30% discount, they probably take me as an idiot. From the company owner perspective however, the same argument sounds quite normal it seems. Just recently took a model 3 performance for a test drive and immediately noticed creak sounds from a front panel, especially on turns. For the 75k€ I would expect so much better.

off course- you can't control people and their mistakes- the self driving software/Tesla has to be responsible for accidents on auto pilot! thus the software has to be perfect- if not keep working on it and hold it back until totally tested/perfected! and that actually may never be possible. what i want is just the elec. motor and drive train- the luzury items should be mechanical.

Elon - "I don't think size of code is a metric of goodness". Wonderful comment. And highly vindicating for Engineers like myself who feel that KISS (or tautological coding) still has its place despite the S/W boffins immediately gobbling/clogging all computer resources as soon as they become generally available - with FLUFF!. This has been going on for nearly 35 years - since cheap memory became mainstream available. Further, this is the MOST illuminating conversation between two like-minded engineers I have EVER seen. It is a GEM. Elon's detailed engineering knowledge comes through like a shining light, while Sandy keeps up super-well. I must suppress my language now before I am seen as some sort of evangelist. And yes - I understood ALL of the buzz-words Elon came out with to support his viewpoints. Because I am an engineer also. Bottom line - this is super-hopeful content and I do hope Elon trashes the latest attack on his (and Telsa's) credibility as well and as easily as he trashed the last - in court. As my late youngest brother was fond of saying - GEDUNK!

lets see what happens when every car is an EV fighting for a charge point when they are all occupied.... lets see what happens when all the lithium and other rare minerals for use in the making of the batteries are all used up. Your batteries will not be getting any cheaper. You may be fortunate in having your private charge point but millions of others around the world live in tall blocks of apartments or rows of terraced houses where they cannot get their EV within 100 yards of their home.... They are the ones who will be crying "Help".... How far do you think an electric truck can travel on a full charge? Lord Bamford (JCB) has stated that they can only be used for 4 hours before being charged up for more than 12 hours... He is now manufacturing all his diggers and cranes etc to be powered by hydrogen engines.. I may be in the minority for the next ten years or so but EVs are not the future , Musk has fooled the world's politicians and car manufacturers

50% or more EV sales in the US by 2030? Probably not... at least not pure EV's, maybe with hybrid's and even that's a stretch. And not unless there is a big breakthrough in battery tech to get us full recharge in under 10 minutes without destroying the long term life of the thing. As for self driving, it is really cool and all and keeps getting better but you've still got to get more sensor data. You're going to keep having these odd crashes just relying on optical cameras and radar. AI will never be smart enough to safely 100% drive a vehicle in all situations with this limited sensor input. Sure in most situations it is safer than a dumb human but you can't have even just a few crashes from an AI driven vehicle or a majority of people aren't going to trust it. Great interview though very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
